This C Ring is the one that goes between the Bearing Housing and Turbine Housing to prevent exhaust leaks. So if you are experiencing leaks in that area, it's probably time to replace it. Also, if you had to remove the turbine housing of your turbo for any reason then it's a good idea to replace the old C Ring to prevent any exhaust leaks.
